WHY NOW?

The Maltese educational system's post secondary sector has developed greatly in the past twenty years. Notwithstanding this, Specto Ltd has identified a number of areas which are still not adequately covered, and are deemed relevant and essential for Malta’s economy, and the job sectors that are emerging.

We believe that the educational sector needs to be honed to what the country and future generations require. Whilst acknowledging that a number of people take up courses for their own personal gratification and interests, it is still important to acknowledge that courses offered need to be also utilitarian and cater for emerging sectors in our economy that will , in the coming 10-20 years , demand a particular subset of jobs and the knowledge base necessary for such jobs.

OUR MISSION

ACCADEMIA VERDE will be focusing on areas which need substantial educational/ training/awareness input for our working population, and also for the population in general, to be better equipped to face new challenges that are on the horizon.

The green economy is a particular sector that promises to be very challenging, and at the same time, will be offering opportunities to our students, and also to professionals who want to keep abreast of the developments in environmental issues, waste management, resource management, etc.

We feel that on a regional basis, we can create a centre of excellence which could attract students from North Africa and Southern Europe, as a point of reference, in these areas of study.

It is our intention to offer a range of courses, starting from basic awareness courses to Diploma level , Higher Diploma level , Graduate level and Masters to cater for a wide variety of needs and educational levels.

To successfully implement this venture, we are roping in a number of foreign institutions, with a reputable track record and a wide outreach. We will be tapping into their resources to build up courses, that are relevant in content and that empower our students to achieve the required knowledge base, that will serve them in their careers or interest paths.

We also plan to tap into local resources, to form part of our academy. Malta boasts a number of competent persons in the areas we intend to operate in, and these will be invited as visiting lecturers. We also plan to involve key opinion leaders in the environmental sector, as we firmly believe that our role is not only that of offering formal courses, but also to act as a venue and vehicle for creating more awareness on vital issues that we are facing, such as waste management , resource management, biodiversity, pollution, transport management, etc. We need scholars, but we also need an informed population and ACCADEMIA VERDE feels that it should contribute to society in this aspect.
